Assign Unique Data Per Tag with Dynamic Fields in RFIDLinked
We’ve added powerful new flexibility to RFIDLinked’s Product Definitions: Dynamic Custom Fields.
This feature allows you to assign values per tag at print time, giving you greater control over your data — whether you're tracking assets, managing inventory, or customizing tags in real time.
Best of all? Dynamic Fields are available for both SGTIN-96 and Pro Tag Product Definitions.
What Are Dynamic Custom Fields?
Previously, custom fields in RFIDLinked were static — meaning all tags printed from a Product Definition shared the same values. That worked well for things like product size, category, or manufacturer.
But now, Dynamic Fields let you:
Assign unique values to each tag as you print
Set default values to auto-fill common cases
Edit or update field values later (e.g. reassign ownership or change location)
This enables much more granular control and flexibility — no extra configuration required.
Example Use Cases
Use Case | Dynamic Field |
Asset tracking | Asset ID, Serial Number |
Tool checkout | Assigned Employee, Department |
Sample management | Batch Number, Test Status |
Equipment service | Last Serviced By, Next Maintenance Date |
With Dynamic Fields, each tag can carry unique, up-to-date data - while still being tied to a shared Product Definition.
How It Works
When printing tags:
You’ll be prompted to enter values for any Dynamic Fields
You can lock fields to re-use the same value across multiple tags
Default values will be pre-filled if no value is provided
You can scan data into the fields using a handheld scanner if needed
After printing, you can even update field values later - perfect for workflows where data changes over time.
